Israel in the News – Roundup

Here are some top stories from the last week that deserve attention:

The Palestinians, via their friends at The Guardian, have released a set of papers now being referred to as the “Palestine Papers.”  The documents reveal negotiations and offers between Israelis and Palestinians over issues including settlements and Jerusalem.  However, some believe they are more hype than news.

The Palestinians have long held a diplomatic mission in Washington, DC.  Last week, the United States gave a nod for the Palestinians to post the flag of the PLO at their office in Washington.  Is this is an informal acknowledgement of future developments?

A Saudi writer published his thoughts on Israel, and they were not what you would expect from an Islamist state.  Fahd Amer Ahmadi said that Israel deserves respect for its work in advancing democracy and integrity.  His article is titled: “Unfortunately, Israel is a country that deserves respect.

Finally, some good economic news.  Intel has announced a plan for a $2.7 billion upgrade at its Southern Israel plant to allow for the production of 22 nanometer chips.  This will brings jobs and should increase Israeli technology exports.
